This lovely barn sits in front of the Mennonite Historical Society offices. When I inquired, they responded that they do not know the history of the barn, and that it is actually owned by the nearby Zion Mennonite Church. The Zion Mennonite church let me know that it is the Abner Miller Barn, which allowed me to find it in the Oregon Historic Resources Site database (the address in the database is off by a considerable amount.)
The barn was built in 1889 by Abner Miller, about whom little is known. It is a Western bank barn, where the barn is built into a bank that allows access to the second level in the back. A later owner of the barn was Dr. Edward Schoor, who used his surgical talents to become expert at grafting plants such as grapes, apples, figs, nuts and plums.
The barn is currently used for church functions and programs. This barn has also been embellished with quilt squares (the church holds a yearly quilt show.)
