This barn is located in Milo McIver State Park in Estacada, and can be reached by a short hike from the equestrian staging area. It is located along the Bat Trail, with interpretive signage about Oregon bats.
The barn was used in the past as a horse stable and as storage. It is now devoted solely to bats. Townsend’s big-eared bats use this barn as a nursery during the summer months. As I visited in fall, after the bats had moved to their winter roosts, I did not see any bats.
